We are neighbors who grew up near the house, recent residents to the area, commuters who drive past everyday, visitors who come to the grounds during Middletown Day, kids who participate in the sports held there, their cheering parents, seniors who spend their days at the senior center behind the house, alumni of Croydon Hall Academy who remember their school days there, people who appreciate grand architecture, and anyone who will not stand by and allow another piece of local history to be torn down for the sake of "more parking"! | |||||

| Pennsauken Historical Society is an
all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, studying, and
presenting the heritage of Pennsauken Township. Our headquarters and the
center of our mission is the Burrough-Dover House, a Quaker farmhouse located
on a bend in Pennsauken Creek. The oldest portion of this sandstone farmhouse
is believed to date from 1710, and it was occupied by just two families, the
Burroughs and the Dovers from that time until about 1960. We offer four official open-house events annually: Spring Festival, Flag Day, Apple Festival, and Holiday Open House. We also provide tours and other events by appointment. Our Colonial house-museum is supplemented by the museum of nostalgia now located in the basement area, which displays donated items illustrating old Pennsauken and the way people lived some while before yesterday. Our open house events also offer additional attractions, such as pony-rides or Native American interpreters, and refreshments. |

| The Strauss Mansion is a 21-room house built in 1893 for use as a “summer cottage” by Adolph Strauss, a wealthy New York importer and merchant. Designed in Queen Anne style, the house is almost on top of the highest elevation in the Victorian town. From high floors, there are wide views over the town and the hills beyond, to the bay below and along the shoreline stretching to the west, and out to Sandy Hook Bay and the New York skyline. The eccentric roof line has peaks, dormers and gables and a variety of shapes and textures. Its two front towers, unique in town, are circular on one corner and six-sided on the other corner; in fact, the house originally was called "The Towers." A two-story porch wraps around three sides of the house. | |||||

| The
North Jersey History Center has an exceptional collection of local, state and
regional historical material. The collection focuses primarily on New Jersey,
but also includes historical material on the eastern third of the United
States. Research material in the North Jersey History Center includes
approximately 60,000 books, maps, microfilm and microfiche, as well as over
1000 linear feet of archival and manuscript collections relating to New
Jersey. The collections include deeds, church, government and charitable
association records, and business and family papers, making the library an
especially valuable resource for historians. There are over 1,700 maps, a
large photograph collection (including approximately 10,000 photographs by
Morristown photographer Frederick Curtiss taken during the period 1903-1938),
oral history transcriptions, an extensive collection of old newspapers, and
New Jersey state census schedules. The Center has a collection of rare books
dating back to 1556, as well as material about book binding, publishing,
typography, and illustration; and resources on historic preservation and the
preservation and conservation of books, manuscripts, and fine art. Several of the more important collections held by the The North Jersey History Center include: The Thomas Nast Collection; The Arthur Burdett Frost Collection; The Norman B. Tomlinson, Jr., Civil War Collection |

| The Hermitage National Historic Landmark is one of the nation's outstanding examples of domestic Gothic Revival architecture. The historic house incorporates a stone structure that was visited during the Revolutionary War by George Washington and was the site where Aaron Burr met and married Theodora Prevost. The house's architectural appearance dates to the 1847 remodeling and enlargement designed by the architect William H. Ranlett. Today, the historic house's furnishings reflect the late Victorian lifestyle of the Rosencrantz family. The Friends of the Hermitage, Inc., a nonprofit membership organization, manages The Hermitage, a New Jersey State Park. The Friends offer tours of the historic house, exhibitions based on the collections, and diverse educational programming to the northern New Jersey region. | |||||

| The Friends of the Abraham Staats House, Inc. was established in 1999 and incorporated in 2004 to support the ongoing restoration, preservation and interpretation of the historic Abraham Staats House. The Abraham Staats House was built c. 1740 near the banks of the Raritan River. The property is associated with significant people and events during the American Revolution. It is also associated with the growth of the community in the early 19th century, when the Delaware & Raritan Canal was constructed between the house and the river. The house remained a private home until it was acquired by the Borough in 1999. It was placed on the New Jersey and National Registers in 2002. | |||||

| The Flemington Neshanock Base Ball Club plays by 19th Century rules, uses authentic replicas of 19th Century equipment and wears 19th Century uniforms. As was the custom in the middle 19th Century, all fielders play barehanded and do not wear gloves. We are a not for profit organization that looks to inform the general public on the roots of our National Pastime. We are sort of like the Civil War re-enactors, except we use a bat and ball instead of a gun. | |||||
